I have always been very picky about my cymbal sound. I’m constantly listening to my cymbals and wondering if they are too loud or not loud enough, I have always looked at the way the venue/room is shaped in order to see what velocity I should be hitting my cymbals. This has always been very frustrating because really no two venues are alike. I have tried several playing techniques and I’ve even put strips of gaff tape on the underside of my cymbals. Well those days are over!
I came across CYPMPAD while on a gig in Seattle. For this gig I was supplied a drum kit from a local back line company. However as most drummers are I tend to bring some of my own gear also, including my cymbals.
During this performance I was blown away at how great my cymbals sounded. The funny thing was is that I didn’t know why they sounded so good. Afterwards I started to take my cymbals off of the supplied cymbals stands, and as usual being in a hurry I dropped what I thought was a cymbal felt. I picked it up and realized that I was wrong. This is not a felt? Its cellular foam! I didn’t even notice them at first. I asked the drum guy from the back line company what they were and he said they are CYMPADS!
I was sold right then and there! I think the fact that there is now a product that optimizes my cymbal sound is amazing. CYMPADS are an absolute drummer must have, I’m completely amazed at how easy to use they are, they come in several sizes for different applications allowing you to dial in and optimize your cymbals gig-to-gig and venue-to-venue.
If your in the practice space, studio or playing a live gig CYMPADS are a sound investment. And CYMPADS are money well spent.
